F'ing Freakish Nut

http://www.statesman.com/aponline/content/news/ap/ap_story.html/National/AP.V2630.AP-Breast-Feeding-.html

A woman who breast-fed her baby while driving on the Ohio Turnpike was found innocent of child endangering and convicted of three other misdemeanors on Friday.

Catherine Nicole Donkers, 29, was found guilty of charges including violating child-restaint laws and driving without a valid driver's license by Portage County Municipal Court Judge Donald Martell.

Ms. Donkers, please let your lunacy get the best of you and have the decency to commit suicide post haste.

Donkers, who represented herself, is a member of an obscure religion with a history of challenging state laws.

It seems this nut prefers the company of fellow nuts in the context of a religious group. Another Heaven's Gate-style mass suicide? Please?

Donkers said her husband, Brad Lee Barnhill, told her to nurse while driving from Pennsylvania to Michigan. When she pulled over after a three-mile pursuit, she handed over a homemade identification card instead of a license and only cooperated with troopers after getting permission on a cell phone from her Barnhill.

Ugggggghhhhhh! Mr. Barnhill, since your wife seems to do whatever you tell her, I implore you to tell her that her time on this earth must come to an end and that she should proactively take charge of bringing about this end. Then follow her lead, you nut.

Finally

I found an article I can actually agree with. Common sense spoken below:

This should be on The Onion But It Is REAL.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/jul03/159083.asp

Believing the term "food stamps" carries such a stigma that it's making people reluctant to partake in the program, the state has commissioned an advertising agency to find a new term.

However, it is unclear whether these new names will be implemented, because of differing reports from state and federal agencies.

The state's Department of Health and Family Services, which spent $10,000 to have a Madison firm craft the new name, had hoped to introduce it soon in brochures, TV advertisements and other promotional materials. The business - Knupp and Watson - has been running several possibilities by focus groups.

But wait, there's more.

Wood said the goal in Wisconsin is to change the program's image - to make food stamps seem less like welfare, and more like general assistance.

So they want the image of welfare to seem less like welfare and more like welfare by another name? This is worth so much more than $10k of confiscated taxpayer dollars! This should enable them to reach even more people, people who previously didn't want food stamps, to give them other people's money. Bravo, bravo, bravo.

And, in conclusion:

State reforming program
Wisconsin has been criticized in the past for its management of food stamps.

To the chagrin of anti-hunger advocates, caseworkers in the mid-1990s didn't tell people leaving welfare that they were still eligible for food stamps. As a result, the food stamp caseload decreased.

Today, the Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee continues to take aim at the state for its food stamp error rate.

Wood said things are changing.

Last year, management of food stamps shifted to the Department of Health and Family Services from the state's Department of Workforce Development, which administers welfare.

Since then, the family services department has begun instructing food pantries on food stamps. The agency also placed food stamp applications that can be downloaded on its Web site.

With a $1.7 million grant it received in July, Wood said the agency plans to implement a computer program that would allow people to submit the applications via the Internet.

I give up!

First, I must start by thanking the Washington Post for not including pictures of the actual dancing. This gesture of good taste is more than appreciated.

Local Witch Seeks To Be Victim of Bigotry

http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/auto/epaper/editions/monday/metro_state_f3e250636085514a0047.html

To summarize, this witch says that she has been criticized. This is unacceptable, naturally, for criticism amounts to depriving one of one's right to freely practice their religion. (Unless it is Catholics being criticized, in which case anything goes and Catholics should just shut up and take the criticism.) So the FBI must be brought in. Also, her former landlord asked her to leave. Whether he did this because she's a witch and he was uncomfortable with that, or because she is a damn nutcase remains a matter for debate. But certainly her inherently superior Wiccan beliefs and delicate sensibilities are more important than anyone else's right to use their own property as they see fit. She says she's being harrassed and yet doesn't even bother citing, or even fabricating, an incident of harassment. Just her accusation should be enough. What a witch.
